JEWELRY DESIGNER

An immigrant’s son, who grew up in the tenements of New York’s Lower East Side, Seaman Schepps rose to prominence in the 1930s with jewelry designs that challenged the status quo and defined a new style for the American woman. With his chunky brooches, “barbaric” bracelets and “bubble” earrings, Schepps pioneered a unique style of jewelry whose sense of splendor offered a new perspective to the world of fine jewelry.

His client list included Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, the Duchess of Windsor, and members of the Du Pont, Mellon and Rockefeller families. By serving these most powerful and influential individuals, Schepps became known as “America’s Court Jeweler”.

After twenty years at the helm of her father’s company, Patricia Vaill retired and passed the baton to Jay Bauer and Anthony Hopenhajm who have continued to produce jewelry in the unique Schepps style. Over the last 16 years, Bauer and Hopenhajm have added new pieces to the classic collection and opened new shops in Palm Beach and Nantucket, bringing Schepps’ imaginative designs to a new generation of admirers.

Recently the subject of museum exhibitions in the United States and Europe celebrating the storied legacy, Seaman Schepps is poised to mark its place in the 21st Century as one of the world’s greatest jewelers. Today, some 50 years after his death, he continues to inspire modern jewelers.

HOW TO WEAR IT

At the moment to project distinctive methodology, conventions and workflow where is imposible to delineate between working materials and personal effects and style impress in a piece of jewelry that\’s the work and heritage of Seaman Chepps, because his work is the contrast and creation of the metal and his shadows in one piece.

In Seamen Chepps pieces we will always find the contrast of the altered metal state with the vital ideal of the elements like earth made stones.

ADDED VALUE

The simple elegance of the #stone, the strength, the appearance, the density, the cold and the calm appearance. The stone is a creation of nature that we recognize as a strong material with a powerful meaning that we can wear. The stone is a symbol who demands, never fears, that associated or only, always glows by itself. When we see the pieces of @seamanschepps we have an earthly feeling, and what it\’s @seamanschepps jewelry about? is not just a beautiful well carved #chalcedony bracelet; it\’s the patience and the willingness to wait for the light reach to the right angle for cut, polish, and lift a veil of dust and smoke that reveals the jewel; them the creations appears for resemble what in fact they are: a powerless moment, because we know that we are holding something that it is grandiose, are not just stones that we found on our road; sometimes artists as Seaman Schepps place at the heart the ability to see greatness in small things.
